Abstract: Aeration facility is often the most useful and effective measure to protect discharge release structures from cavitation damage caused by high speed flow. The key problem for aeration facility to reduce cavitation is that the air quantity aerated into the flow should reach to some extent and have a good air distribution in the water along the chute. For the spillways or tunnels with straight bottom profile and with curved profile, the distribution law of aeration density is difference. This paper mainly focuses on the streamwise development of the air concentration in the flow on the chute with anti-arc segment and focuses on some influence factors for the distribution of the air concentration. Based on the systematic model tests, the air distributions along the chute after the aerator for different flow conditions and aerators are investigated. The results show that there are three type air concentration profiles along the chute. After the aerator along the flow direction, Air concentration increases, then reaches to its maximum value after the jet placement and then decreases.
