Abstract: A model for aquifers in folded limestone in highlands based on simple linear reservoir concepts is developed; this is possible due to the high permeability of the formations where the piezometric levels evolve similarly even for large changes. The model was applied to several structures and explains, in the mean, water level evolution in response to rain and pumping. From its analysis a relation between pumping depth and sustainable discharge is obtained, thus giving a realistic view of water cost.
