Abstract: The importance of the hydrodynamic behavior studies and performance evaluation of submarine sewers has increased as many coastal areas municipalities has adopted sewage treatment by ocean disposal. Beyond the necessity of frequent inspections, the computer models have been important tools to the evaluation of dilution efficiency of the existing submarine sewers diffusers and to the feasibility studies for the implementation of submarine sewers in coastal zones. The necessity to develop this work was due the importance to join and systemize data of the SABESP submarine sewers in order to provide diagnosis studies of the existing submarine sewers and to propose recommendations to solve design inadequations. Analysis were carried out by using the CORMIX Expert System, which has a wide geometric and ambient possibilities for the evaluation of submarine sewers performance, and has a very low cost compared to any other similar model. The main results obtained were the good performance observed in Praia Grande, Santos, Guaruja and Sao Sebastiao-Cigarras submarine sewers, and the necessity to adequate the Ilha Bela and Sao Sebastiao-Araca submarine sewers projects. The studies were done aiming the preservation of the protection zone of300 m width from the coast, concerning the maximum concentration of coliform allowed by the brazilian environmental law “CONAMA”.
