High Accuracy Numerical Scheme of Boussinesq Equation for a Shallow Water Wave Model

Abstract: Boussinesq type equations, which are of special concern in coastal engineering in recent years, have been developed to increase the accuracy of the equation and match the dispersion properties in intermediate or deep water. In this paper, a high accuracy nonlinear dispersive wave model is set up by using 3rd order spatial compact difference scheme (CDS) to an enhanced Boussinesq Equation (Schaffer 1995). According to our numerical experimental tests, the model incorporates low numerical dissipation, high order precision, and can be applied to simulate the nonlinear behaviors reasonably.
