Abstract: A steady-state flow analysis followed by a transient flow analysis was performed for a complex network of pressurized cooling water pipelines serving process and utility units of an oil refinery. The cooling water demands of numerous heat exchangers were the basis for the design of pipeline sizes, and locating and sizing the restriction valves.
