Abstract: Fusegates are composed of independent units which installed side by side on the dam's spillway crest. The fusegate is basically used to increase the reservoir capacity, the flood discharge capacity and improvement of the flood control characteristics. Fusegate is in effect, a modern technology system that provides safety and economic benefits and can be used as a proper alternative to the conventional methods such as radial gates, flap gates, inflatable dams and fuseplugs. The current research, being the first experimental study of the Fusagate in Iran, is aimed to develop a new operational system by modifying the labyrinth-crested Fusegates. The proposed operation system may increase the applicability of the labyrinth-crested Fusegates in the ongoing projects.
