Abstract: Use of numerical methods to study turbulent wave boundary layers has increased with the advancement of computing systems. In the present study, original k-ω model and one version of blended k-ε/k-ω model are applied to a sinusoidal oscillatory boundary layer on a highly rough surface. Both the model versions show a good agreement with the experimental data for velocity profile. The predicted turbulent kinetic energy is shown for inter-comparison between the models. Both the models underestimate the peak value of bottom shear stress. The present study could be helpful in selecting an appropriate model to be used in sediment transport calculations.
