Using Artificial Neural Network to Calculate Propagation Speed of Tidal Bore

Abstract: Based on the basic principles of artificial neural network and the characteristics of tidal bore, a BP network model using additional momentum method and adaptive learning rate is developed by using experiment data. The model is applied to calculate the propagation speed of tidal bore. Comparison between the results from the model and the experiment shows that the model is basically reasonable and reliable. A proper choice of model parameters is found to be crucial in achieving adequate training.
