Abstract: A three-dimensional non-hydrostatic ocean large eddy model (OLEM) is applied to simulate an extreme summer event of cooling induced by a strong dry wind, the Bora, in the Gulf of Trieste (Northern Adriatic Sea). We show that model results agree with data acquired by an instrumented coastal buoy when a dynamical treatment of those data have been made to furnish the proper initial conditions of the simulations.
