Abstract: The “L'Amelie” sand beach located on the French Atlantic coast is subject to a strong swell. As a result, the erosion of the dune line progresses very fast. The protection level obtained from classical hard structures installed in the past was not as high as expected. Therefore, new coastal-friendly structures were tested. The last one is a breakwater made of sand tubes: they consist of textile filter envelopes hydraulically filled on site with the sand from the beach. This solution is very fast to install, less expensive than the classical ones, but also reversible if necessary. The first feed-back on the structure stability is encouraging, as it resisted the storms which occurred during construction.
