Abstract: Different experimental methods for sediment investigation are presented and discussed. The combination of laboratory and field measurements allows to gain insight into the erosion process and to provide key parameters for numerical modelling of cohesive sediment transport in surface water. A laboratory equipment for critical erosion shear stress and erosion rate profiling is presented. Additionally an in-situ erosion testing apparatus for cohesive sediments is described.
