Abstract: This paper is based on some twenty years observations of floods on 2 experimental small and seasonally dry watersheds. Essential parameters, i. e annual runoff and peakflows were observed. The purpose is to define formulas for design of small reservoirs in western highlands of Reunion Island. Unlike traditional rainfall-runoff methods (such as the rational method), the empirical and statistical power formulas such as runoff/peakflow = f (drainage areas) are developed in this paper, more suitable for the Island because rainfall intensity distribution is never uniform during associated cyclonic events. Computed charts provide direct answer for potential users.
