Abstract: The paper presents the simulation-optimization model for determination of the optimum conservation storage of the multipurpose reservoirs. A number of criterion functions for the ranking of the alternative solutions are presented, and they include the multipurpose water use, water protection and flood control in the multipurpose water resources system. In the complex simulation-optimization model, the HEC 5 simulation model and the multicriterion ranking algorithm were used. The results of the conducted analysis are presented by the proposed model for the water resource system in the basin of the Nisava river.
