Abstract: improvement techniques, which is a systemized river environment management planning including the restoration of riparian ecosystem with the flood damage mitigation in the Kyoung-an River, Han River basin, Korea. It is important to restore riparian ecosystem through a series of surveying, scoping goals and objectives, restoration alternatives, planning processes, and development of a close-to-nature river improvement techniques. In this case, riparian ecosystem management should take an ecosystem approach for the recovery of threatened and endangered species while taking into account human imposed constraints, using concepts such as a limited meander and also its floodplain.
