Abstract: This paper reports on a study of assessment the spatial distribution of leakages in water supply networks. The methodology described in this paper has been introduced and verified for its accuracy in a water supply network. Using ordinary flow meters, pressure loggers and manometers, measurements of flow and pressure were performed in the network The network has been divided into district metering areas (DMAs). The estimation o leakages is based on Minimum Night Flows recorded at the entries of its DMA. In particular the aim of this paper is to take into account pressure effect and in that way to assess the spatia and temporal distribution of leakage for different values of the pressure exponent γ. This is achieved by using simple equations that relate leakage and pressure. Losses have been calculated for the entire network and for each DMA separately for different values of the pressure exponent γ. The concepts introduced in this paper could be used to estimate leakages in water supply networks using simple equipment.
