Abstract: The present paper deals with the optimization of the daily operating cost of Athens water supply system. This system carries water from several resources (rivers, lakes, reservoirs, drillings), through alternative aqueducts (tunnels, channels, pipes) to the Water Treatment Plants located outside the city limits. The simulation process was based on the Pipe 2000 and the EPA Net codes, while the optimization was based on Unit Cost Factors regarding the water intake, supplying, carrying and treatment processes.
