Abstract: Ochoco Dam, a feature of the Crooked River Project, is located on Ochoco Creek in central Oregon about 5 miles upstream of the city of Prineville which has a population of approximately 5,000. The dam was originally constructed around 1920 and has undergone several modifications. The purpose of the dam is to provide irrigation water for the Ochoco Irrigation District and flood control in the winter months. Major modifications to the embankment dam were completed in 1994 as well as minor modifications to the outlet works intake which will not be addressed by this paper. This paper will focus on recent modifications to the spillway structure to address dam safety deficiencies.
