Abstract: Reservoir desiltation techniques through hydraulic flushing have been employed effectively in many field cases. It usually results in strong degradation in the reservoir if the reservoir water level can be drawn down significantly. A diffusion model and an unsteady mobile-bed model were established to simulate one-dimensional degradation flushing processes during drawdown operations. Three sets of data collected in a 0.5m-wide flume were used to calibrate and verify the models. The simulated results of the bed elevation changes were in good agreement with the measured data.
