Implicit TVD Methods for Modelling Discontinuous Channel Flows

Abstract: The Saint Venant equations for modelling flow in open channels are solved in this paperusing two implicit total variation diminishing (TVD) schemes. The applicability and performance of second and third order accurate implicit TVD schemes are investigated for the computation of free-surface flows. Both of the unsteady computational models are compared in their prediction of extreme steady state solutions, such as hydraulic jumps.
