Abstract: Almost 30 yeas ago, in 1963, a large scale landslide into the reservoir occurred at the Vaiont Dam in Italy. This landslide produced a giant wave in the dam reservoir. The wave dashed against the opposite bank and reached a height of 270m above the water surface of reservoir. This wave washed over the dam causing great damage to downstream area, and 2,125 people were killed in this disaster[1].
