Three-Dimensional Modeling of Compound Channels with Vegetated Flood Plains

Abstract: A 3D model is used to simulate the flow in a symmetrical compound channel whose flood planes are covered by sparse rigid vegetation. The effects due to the vegetation are modeled separately from bed roughness and from turbulence. The results of the simulations are compared to experimental data for several depths of the flow.
