Abstract: Motion of granular material flow'ing on a slope is simulated by using DEM (Distinct Element Method), in which the motion of individual particles are traced directly. The characteristics of the velocity profile of particles, or the change of the velocity profile with the increase of the inclination of a slope-from a upward convex curve to a upward concave curve via a linear line-found in a previous experiment is reproduced by the present simulation. The physics of such transition is investigated through the simula-tion data of individual particle motion.
