Abstract: Experiments on the turbulence characteristics of flow over rough bed were conducted in a tilting flume. By using 1-D LDV, mean velocity distribution and longitudinal turbulence intensity were measured. Different series of experiments were performed in flows over two different sizes of glass marbles and under different steep bed slopes respectively to investigate the effects of slope on turbulence structures. The experimental results showed that there is no obvious influence of slope on flow velocity and turbulence intensity profiles.
