Abstract: In the final phase of development of the Lamma Power Station in Hong Kong, an ash lagoon will be constructed w hich has to be located in close proximity to the future No. 3 Cooling W ater Intake due to the geo graphica l and environmental constraints. This unusual lay-out will lead to com plicacy of flow and ill effects on operation. A series of physical models have been built for simulation of the future seawater flow pattern with the lagoon in place to ensure healthy operation of the CW Intake[1]. The paper presents the model methodology used for realizing flow and sedimentation simulation and yielding main test results. Emphasis is laid on the line of thought to tackle such flow problem with some interesting hydraulic phenomena obtained in the experiments given.
