Abstract: A reanalysis of published experimental data in skimming flows over stepped spillways is presented in this paper. The results obtained from the application of intrusive versus non-intrusive methods indicate clearly that great care should be taken in order to analyse possible significant underestimation of the residual energy at the spillway toe.
