Abstract: In summer 1992, during the first impounding of the reservoir of the 53 m high concrete dam in the Panix valley, Switzerland, the Hydraulic Division of the Laboratory of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Glaciology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich was able to perform prototype measurements in the bottom outlet region. Fig. 1 shows a cross section of the Panix dam.
