Abstract: Rivers, estuaries and coastal waters have been used as convenient disposal fields for various industrial and municipal wastes for many decades. In recent years. more and more national and intermational concern has been raised about the potential environmental impacts of water pollution, resulting in more public awareness and political efforts to regulate and control thermal and effluent discharges in order to maintain water quality for beneficial use. To assist the environmental impact assessment, it is often necessary to simulate pollutant transport processes using analytical solutions, experimental studies and mathematical models.
