Abstract: The effects of approach channel on wave conditions at entrance as well as in harbor area have been studied by using of wave refraction-diffraction numerical model based on Boussinesq equations. It was found that depending on the angle between wave direction and the alignment of approach channel, the wave rays may either be divergence or convergence. The result of computation indicates that the wave convergence on the side slope of the channel is less severe than that predicted by Snell law due to existence of diffraction at the same time.
