Abstract: The ice cover, ice jam and ice dam can be formed in high latitudes region. So the flow condition is changed from open channel flow to enclosing undercurrent flow. The ice phenomenon occurs with the change of hydraulic conditions, thermal conditions and boundary conditions of river in winter time. In this paper, the ice cover is simulated by using artificial cover in the laboratory, and the coefficient of sluice gate discharge is studied based on changing ice cover submergence depth and distance between leading edge and sluice gate. The results show that the discharge coefficient will decrease with increasing of ice cover submergence depth. However, it will increase with increasing of distance between leading edge and sluice.
