Abstract: Summaries of SWIPS technology and results and recommendations of a 2004-2005 field river ice monitoring program in the Peace River are provided preparatory to description of an expanded 2005-2006 field program. Preliminary results from this program and from accompanying analytical and theoretical studies are described and related to the capabilities of the latest generation of the SWIPS instrument.
