Abstract: This paper is for study of flood hazard of moraine dammed lake failures caused glacier avalanche. According to Data of the investigation of 13 failures of (11 Moraine dammed lakes) in Tibet, features of the avalanche and failure were analyzed. Climatic Characteristics were studied correspondingly by utilizing the data of 9 meteorological stations nearby. By analyzing the climatic characteristics before moraine dam failure, features of climate in three aspects were obtained of gIacia1 avalanche and moraine dammed lake failure. The results in this paper can be applied to the monitoring and forecasting of glacier avalanche and moraine dammed lake outburst.
