Abstract: On the basis of the flow characteristics, impinging jets are generally divided into three regions, that is, free jet region, impingement region and wall jet region. Also, the downwash fountain flow exists for multiple jets. Using characteristics of these regions for impinging jets, the objective of ice control will be attained in winter of cold regions. This paper deals with the application of multiple jets theory to ice control engineering, such as hydropower station, navigation lock, etc., and presents the discussion of diameter, spacing of interjet, and impingement height as well as their optimization.
