Abstract: This paper introduces the experimental results of the porosity effect on the uniaxial compressive strength of the sea ice in liaodong Gulf. From the measurement and analysis on the concept in the experiment, some limitations had been found in the application of the porosity concept. The resource of the limitations are discussed here, and the suggestions for changing the state of the measurement which is useful for the calculation of the porosity are given.
