Abstract: JZ20-2 is a multi-leg jacket platform which was built in Liaodong Bay of Bohai Sea in 1987. Severe vibration was induced by sea ice in the winter of 1989-90. Fixed double truncated cones were welded at the waterline to reduce the ice force and vibration. Full scale measurements of ice force and the dynamic response of the platform had been proceeded before the cones was mounted. This paper reports the measurements performed in 1995- 1996 winter, emphatically discussed the broken process of ice sheet acted on the conical structure and the response on the platform.
