Abstract: Outbursting ice-jam flood of Sikeshu River which is in the north slope of middle of Tianshan mountain is the characteristic natural ice phenomena of mountain river. More and more attentions are payed to the outbursting. In this paper, we analyse the hydrological and meteorological data, then fInd out the five laws from daily hydrograph and temperature process over thirty years. First, the dam burst possibility in dry year and normal year is far more than in wet year; Second, forceful cold wave dropping temperature is easy to cause the ice of mountain river to jam dam; Third, after the jam, the recession index (fJ) of the flow process in the hydrological station of mountain pass obviously droPS; Fourth, after the jam, the pOSSIbility of dam burst and no dam burst (slowly sluicing) equally exists; Fifth, after forceful cold wave lowers temperature, if the low temperature continues, it easily causes the outburst flood because of jam burst. Above laws of the ice-jam flood of Sikeshu River in winter can also be basic to the prediction and defending ourselves against disaster.
