A Design Method for Ice Conveyance Canal of Diversion Type of Power Plant

Abstract: Xinjiang Autonomous Region is located in the cold area of China. Most of hydropower stations in this region are diversion-canal typed and self-supplied power system. Power failure caused by ice damage has seriously affected the local industrial and agricultural production, resident life and economic benefit of power plants. At present, the equipment usage efficiency of power plants in the region are low in average and the generating hour usage of the installed capacity is only two-third of the country's average level. Therefore, winter operation of the diversion-type of power plant becomes a key to power plant design. In this paper, premising ensured winter safe operation, a design method for ice conveyance canal of diversion-type of power plant is given, which is based on collected data and information and ice control experiences of completed power plants in Xinjiang region.
