Abstract: Ice rope is an ideal countermeasure to prevent ice flood on the Lower Yellow River. There are two types of ice rope. In principle, ice rope should be installed at wide channels instead of narrow channels. Ice rope can obstruct and break ice, induce ice freeze up, change the unfavorable sites of ice freeze up or ice cover, promote the formation of artificial cascade ice covers. It has effective economic benefits for preventing ice flood on the Lower Yellow River.
