Abstract: This paper introduces the river ice situation, encountered impact of ice on hydraulic structures and hydropower stations, and adopted prevention measures in the north part of China. The emphasis is focused on description of ice damage on hydropower stations and experience in their management and operation in Xinjiang Autonomolls Region, Jilin and Helongjiang provinces. It also puts forward the facing ice problems to be solved in the future.
