Abstract: Temperature-drop activity is the main factor to affect the ice-regime in rivers. There are steady and unsteady freezing sections in Ningxia reach of Yellow River that is also influenced by reservoirs. This article discusses ice regime forecasting by correlation of the dynamic factors of temperature drop, it analyzes the phenomenon of reservoir influence dowstream and the variation of hydrothermal compensation by dynamic period cumulative temperature. It also studies rational forecast of ice floes and freeze-up date by drop-rate of period air temperature trough point and the variation of water temperature and air tempemture, and the initial results are obtained.
