Abstract: This paper provides a brief review of some representative ice force and failure mode observations that have been acquired from Gulf Canada's Molikpaq structure. To date, this bottom founded Arctic caisson has been used for offshore drilling in the Canadian Beaufort Sea on four separate occasions, over four winter seasons. During these deployments, the Molikpaq has experienced a significant range of interactions with both first and multi-year ice, and has performed very well. The ice force and ice failure mode information that has been obtained, together with the structure's measured response behaviour, has provided an invaluable source of information regarding ice forces and ice interaction effects that is relevant to the design of Arctic structures.
