Abstract: The paper analyses the basic mechanisms of reservoir thermal regime formation in the permafrost zone and its influence on the thawing of the reservoir bottom underlaid by ice -rich loamy materials having polygonal -lode ices and an upper peat-moss layer. Thawing of the bottom is shown to produce a marked effect on the quality of water in the reservoir.
