Abstract: Ice breakup at the end of the freeze-up period is frequently accompanied by t he accumulation of ice floes and the formation of ice jams. Avaible data the more significant ice jams on the river Berounka in the past are compared with results achieved by using various ice jam models. On the basis of ice jam models, a forecast of the maximum water level on the river Becva was also elaborated.
