Abstract: Based on the investigations made methods have heen developed for calculating ice thermal and hydrothermal regimes of channel flows forming in sluiced disposal areas. Classification is presented of sluiced disposal areas for hydraulic handling of industrial wastes depending on their heat loading. Also given are data on studying hydraulic parameters of flows in winter periods. The distinguishing feature of power plants, washery mills, integrated iron-and-steel and other works is the need for continuous hydraulic removal of wastes under various climatic and meteorological conditions. One of the high-priority tasks is the requirement for a non-failure operation of hydraulic waste handling and disposal systems during winter periods of their performance characterized hy low subzero air temperatures for most regions of the USSR. On top of the disposal area for hydraulic handling of wastes an alluvium slope is formed along which channel flows are sluiced carrying disperse particles to he disposed of.
