Abstract: The Maattanen model for analysis of ice-induced vibration has been used with satisfaction in design of the monopod lighthouses in the Gulf of Bothnia. Some aspects related to application of this model on a Bohai jacket with multicolumns are discussed in the paper, including the mode superposition, the trail of crushing in ice, direction variation of the ice force, and so on. Suggestions are made and an illustrative example is presented.
