Abstract: A dynamic -thermodynamic ice model suitable for the Bohai Sea is presented. The model, connected with an atmospheric model and a tidal current model, was used for testing forecasts in the area of the Bohai Sea and the North Yellow Sea during winter 1989/1990 at NRCMEF. The ice model is briefly described and an outline of the numerical forecast system for sea ice is given in this paper. Forecasting results are good to show the evolution of ice conditions. Statistical verification has been used for making objective assessment of the model and the forecast system.
