Abstract: A theory based on energy considerations is proposed for the distribution of frazil in a turbulent flow. The theory leads to an integral equation with a single parameter. The general solution of this equation should give a set of non-dimensional concentration versus depth curves under different frazil loading and evolving conditions. A particular solution of the equation produces curves which are qualitatively similar to a field obtained distribution curve frcm the Lachine Rapids of the St. Lawrence River. The numerical solution of the general integral equation will be reported when the work is completed.
