Abstract: Columnar-grained S2-ice frozen from water doped with 1% of urea has been tested under uniaxial tension and compression and under biaxial compression. The load was applied parallel, perpendicular, and at 45 deg. to the growth direction. Tests were performed at two temperatures, -5 °C and -10 °C, and at three strain rates, with a closed-loop controlled triaxial testing machine. For all six test conditions (2 temperatures, 3 strain rates), the coefficients of the parabolic planar isotropic Pariseau yield criterion have been determined. The components of the constitutive equation and the yield criteria exhibited a pronounced anisotropy.
