Abstract: Stability analysis of ice floes at the upstream edge of ice jams required information on, and the determination of, the pressure distribution under the floes. The pressure distribution under the ice floes was determined experimentally in a wind tunnel. In these experiments, pressure coefficients were registered at different ice thicknesses, water depths and floe roughness. The pressure distribution for given combinations of flow velocity, water depth, ice floe thickness and roughness can be calculated with the pressure coefficients registered.
