Abstract: A procedure is presented for evaluating the instability of longitudinal river-bed variations. The rate of river-bed variation is obtained from the equation of continuity for sediment transport and a sediment transport formula. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the computation procedure and an evaluation of the instability of longitudinal river-bed variations.
