Abstract: The paper presents the author's observations on ice and glacier formation, co-existence of ice with water, ice floatation, ice-cover development and its effects, viscous flow of ice and glacier under stress, kinetic drifting of ice blocks and icebergs, their stability and jamming, keeping ice free at obstructions, and breaking ice for navigation.
